In the TLS, Tim Hames is charmed by Roy Douglas's history of that most quixotic of British political movements, the Liberal Party:

He quotes sympathetically the words issued by Lady Violet Bonham Carter to the 1946 Liberal Conference that Britain was a country “Liberal to the core”, without dwelling too long on the fact that there were precisely ninety-three delegates at the meeting she was addressing.
