Sorry to be obtuse, but why does anyone need to be told that the Met is "Working for a safer London" in any case? For quite a while now, police cars in my area have been going around with "Reducing crime, disorder and fear", emblazoned on the side. An officer once told me the idea came from the LAPD's "To protect and to serve". But the Brit version just doesn't have the same ring to it. What next? Ambulances "Taking people to and from hospitals" or fire engines "Putting out fires and rescuing cats from trees"?
