Why are we still waiting for a new US ambassador to arrive in Grosvenor Square?

If even the Guardian is worried about America's PR effort, you can be sure it's a real problem:

"What explains this deliberate absence from public debate? Is this because American diplomats are now so sealed off that they just don't get it? Or that they have calculated that it is simply not worth the aggravation?"
