SPANISH PRACTICES

The story of the racist abuse at the England v Spain match is obviously pretty depressing. Still, I had to smile when I heard a football reporter on Radio Five last night defending Norwich City fans who were accused of taunting a black player.
Our correspondent was keen to point out that the fans were not, in fact, shouting "black bastard". They were actually chanting "fat bastard".

That's a relief.
