THE NUTTY PROFESSOR

Front Page magazine has a
transcript of Noam Chomsky's appearance on Bill Maher's HBO programme, Real Time. Maher's "interview" is an embarrassment ("Please keep thinking outside the box. I know it’s lonely there, but stay the course. "). Then again, I'm not surprised. Much as he claims to be a victim of a media black-out, Chomsky can usually rely on getting a free ride from the chattering classes. Just as well Andrew Sullivan was on hand to restore a little sanity on this occasion.

If you need more on Chomsky's thought-processes, Oliver Kamm has plenty of evidence. Another must-read is David Horowitz and Peter Collier's anthology, The Anti-Chomsky Reader. (I reviewed it in the Washington Times recently. To see Chomsky at his most slippery, check John Williamson's account of how he caught the great man spinning lies in an MIT lecture. )
