The Telegraph (reg required) ponders Tony Blair's body-language:

"There were smiles yesterday as President George W Bush and Tony Blair paraded their friendship at the White House. The telling thing was: none of the smiles was Mr Blair's...

Despite the warm welcome, Mr Blair seemed uncomfortable. When a British reporter asked if Mr Blair was his "poodle", Mr Bush snorted in disgust, then roared as Mr Blair defused the moment with a joke. But Mr Blair's expression ranged from tense to fixed, with the odd moment of looking ill. It was a stark visual reminder that only Mr Bush gains from this most unlikely of political friendships......Mr Blair's strained expression, and reluctance even to look at Mr Bush during his opening statement, testified to the fact that for most in Britain, his friendship with Mr Bush hurts him."
