WHY THE PEACENIKS MAY BE DISAPPOINTED, EVEN IF THEIR MAN WINS

In the Weekly Standard (subscriber-only, unfortunately), Tod Lindberg explains why a Kerry administration could well end up following a neo-con path after all. (Lindberg would obviously prefer a Bush victory.) His argument is that, for all the irrational hostility directed at Wolfowitz and Co, the big debate has gone their way.

"What we have here, I submit, is not a referendum on neoconservative strategic doctrine but a question of who will best implement that doctrine going forward. The case Kerry states is against neoconservative national security policy not in principle, but as executed."
